Position:        Housing Services Program Director

 

Hours:          Fulltime, limited evenings/weekend work required. Flexible schedule possible

Salary:         Equivalent of $24.00/hour; $49,920/year

 

Description:

The Housing Services Program Director oversees programming and supervises staff within all housing services programs serving those experiencing homelessness.

 

Reporting:

The Housing Services Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director and serves on the Executive Leadership Team.

 

Job Duties:                           

Staff Supervision:

  • Provide general supervision to all staff, interns, or volunteers who are serving in case management roles or who are providing other direct services to individuals experiencing homelessness, including hiring, termination, and performance evaluation
  • Provide clinical supervision and case consultation in real time to case managers; including clients experiencing high degrees of trauma and housing barriers
  • Manage caseloads for case managers based on varying program requirements, levels of client need, and varying forms of case management
  • Oversee referral processes for various programs
  • Process complaints from program participants

 

Training and Professional Development:

  • Create and maintain onboarding and professional development systems for case managers
  • Ensure that case management programs are kept up to date on relevant best practices, methods, and policies
  • Provide trainings to all Tenant Resource Center staff regarding housing services programs and referral processes

 

Program Management:

  • Manage housing services programs including changing program requirements and program development functions with a social justice lens and a focus on racial justice
  • Oversee housing services grant writing processes in connection with Executive Leadership Team
  • Manage case management plan and financial request approval processes
  • Manage housing navigation efforts through landlord outreach, recruitment, and retention in a challenging housing market
  • Assist with budget management and financial decision-making for housing services programs
  • Create and maintain policies and procedures for case management as needed
  • Assist with grant reporting functions in connection with Executive Leadership Team

 

Coordination with Partners and Funders:

  • Serve as the liaison between the Homeless Services Consortium and the Tenant Resource Center; attend all HSC meetings related to TRC programs
  • Serve as the point of contact for all housing services funders in connection with the Executive Director and Finance Director
  • Serve as the HMIS System Admin and Safety Officer
  • Attend relevant city/county meetings that influence spending decisions about housing services programs and impact homeless communities

 

Miscellaneous:

  • Create and maintain systems for receiving donations of supplies for individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Build capacity for additional programming within the agency
  • Perform outreach functions to developers and service providers within the community
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

 

Qualifications:

  • MSW or related degree required. 2 years of housing services, case management, or other programmatic experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness required. Applicants who do not hold educational or experiential requirements but believe they hold the necessary skills from other means are encouraged to apply
  • Connection and alignment with Tenant Resource Center core values and mission, including principles of Housing First, Trauma-Informed Care, and Housing is a Human Right
  • Proven track record of team management and staff supervision
  • Ability to teach others about housing first principles, harm-reduction practices, motivational interviewing skills, trauma-informed care practices, affect management, and professional boundaries
  • Ability to hold compassion and empathy for all people and desire to provide client-centered care to program participants; requires a high degree of cultural competency
  • Strong communications skills, including grant writing, outreach, and training experience
  • Previous experience working with database systems and other computer systems, including HMIS, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • Applicants bilingual in Spanish or Hmoob preferred
