Madison Moving Week Logistics - Tenant Resource Center

Madison Moving Week Logistics

Friday is the day when many apartments turn over in Madison. Many tenants are doing the mad dash out and the mad dash in, landlords are trying to get the apartments moderately cleaned in between the dashing tenants, and there's a lot of chaos all over, for this whole week.

Here are some incredibly helpful pieces of information for the movers in the crowd - logistics (construction, traffic, garbage), to make sure moving is a success for you.

August 13:

  • 3am: Garbage crews hit the streets (info on garbage below)
  • 9am-6pm: TRC office is open for walk-ins at 1202 Williamson St, Madison, WI
  • 11am - 7pm: Donation Stations Open (locations in this map and below)

August 14:

  • 3am: Garbage crews hit the streets (info on garbage below)
  • 7 am – 5 pm: East Johnson Construction (via Alder Zellers):
    • Construction crews are going to consolidate work as much as possible, mostly working on the north side of East Johnson Street between Butler and Blair Streets. There will be very limited, if any work, taking place on the south side of East Johnson Street east of Paterson Street.
    • Try to get ahead of when workers arrive or hold off until they are done for the day. You WILL have access to Johnson St. even while construction is happening.
    • Access to driveways will be maintained even on blocks being worked on.
    • It is ok to pull into/park for loading/unloading on the non-travel lane on blocks not being actively worked on. Plus you can make use of cross streets.
    • The crews are well aware this is moving day and will work with you to pull over on blocks being worked on, just be sure to safely get their attention.
    • Be aware there will be private utility crews working on the North side of Johnson between Hamilton and Hancock.
  • 9am-6pm: TRC office is open for walk-ins at 1202 Williamson St, Madison, WI
