Volunteer Housing Counseling

The majority of our volunteers are housing counselors who provide information about rental rights and responsibilities and referrals both over the phone and in person.

TRC is seeking people who are willing to make at least a one year commitment to volunteer on a weekly basis as housing counselors. Learn to help others solve their rental housing related problems! Volunteer housing counselors help staff our housing information line and assist walk-ins with their rental housing questions. The typical volunteer commitment is 3 to 5 hours per week, between the hours of 9:00 and 6:00, Monday through Friday.

Volunteer Housing Counselor Training

Training is provided on the basics of tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities. Training and orientation require attending three sessions. Contact Megin at 257-0143 or by e-mail for more information or to sign up. For more information about the housing counseling program, click here.

Checks or cash donations to "Tenant Resource Center" for operations are always welcome at our office or events as well. Click for printable donation form.

TRC is a also member agency of Community Shares of Wisconsin. You can donate to TRC online through CSW's E-power Project. And don't forget about the annual fall workplace giving campaign that might be available through your employer, where you can designate TRC and many other Community Shares agencies to receive donations as an automatic payroll deduction on the schedule you choose.

Housing Crisis Fund

Donations to the "Housing Crisis Fund" are always welcome. Donations go directly to preventing the eviction of a low-income person or family in Dane County and are distributed through the Housing Help Desk. The need for funds is especially great at times when tenants have to choose between paying their heating bills so they don't get the electric and gas disconnected or paying their rent. If you wish to donate to the "Housing Crisis Fund," simply specify that on your check or online donation.

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS, DONORS, JUDGES & CHEFS!
