Position:        Finance and Operations Manager

Benefits:        36-Hour Work Week; Health, Vision and Dental Insurance (100% contribution; no premium costs to employee); FSA, 401k, Mileage/Phone Reimbursements

                         18 days/year in Paid Time Off

Salary:           $45,000/year

 

Description:

The Finance and Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations, including Finance, Logistics, and Compliance-oriented requirements of the organization and its programs.

Reporting:

The Finance Manager reports directly to the Finance Director.

Job Duties:                           

  • Assist with the evaluation of short- and long-term financial objectives of the organization and make recommendations to the Finance Director to enhance the budgeting, controls, and compliance functions of the organization.
  • Manage the organization’s accounting, compliance, and audit requirements in accordance with GAAP and IRS rules and regulations.
  • Assist with the production of monthly draft financial statements, monthly grant billing procedures, monthly accounting processes, and annual reporting functions.
  • Manage the organization’s record-keeping functions, including financial records, client records, governance records, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with the organization’s annual audit process.
  • Supervise the organization’s HR functions as directed by the Finance Director or Executive Director.
  • Provide administrative and program support to the organization’s programs as needed by the Executive Team and as directed by the Executive Director.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage complicated work functions over long periods of time.
  • Connection and alignment with Tenant Resource Center core values and mission, including principles of Housing First, Trauma-Informed Care, and Housing is a Human Right.
  • Experience with nonprofit grant reporting systems, accounting systems, database systems, and/or other relevant systems for nonprofit administration.
  • Accounting/Finance degree (BS, CPA, MBA) OR 2+ years of nonprofit administration experience.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Access, and Publisher.
  • Ability to hold compassion and empathy for all people and desire to provide client-centered care to program participants; requires a high degree of cultural competency.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize large volumes of data and information and present meaningful observations, recommendations, and make the information more accessible.
  • Strong communications skills, including grant writing, outreach, and client experience.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Lived experience of housing insecurity, homelessness and/or the legal system.
  • Working knowledge of Dane County Housing market and services.
  • Bi-lingual -- preference for individuals fluent in Spanish, Chinese, Hmong or Arabic.
  • Concrete understanding of restorative justice, abolitionism, and/or anti-oppression movements.

Additional Information:

Must have access to reliable transportation - local travel required on a regular basis
