Service Announcement - 2026 Outreach Thursdays & Tenant Rights Trainings

With the New Year, the Tenant Resource Center is undergoing a variety of changes - including an adjustment to our office hours. Starting next week on January 22nd, TRC will be closing at 4:00 PM instead of 6:00 PM on Thursdays. Monday-Wednesday hours will remain unchanged. Why this change?

TRC is thrilled to announce our new 2026 initiative, Outreach Thursdays! This is a step forward towards improving our community engagement and making our resources more accessible throughout Dane County.

Part of our mission at TRC is education and empowerment of individuals and families. Our main goal with Outreach Thursdays is to provide increased housing stability education and resources directly to our community members. By extending our services beyond typical office hours and locations, we’re aiming to make a bigger impact and help those who can’t visit us during the day. This is a crucial way to meet our community where they are and empower residents with the knowledge they need to prevent housing crises before they happen.

Every Thursday afternoon, TRC will utilize this time for outreach initiatives and coordinating with community partners. And in particular, one Thursday every month, TRC will partner with another local organization at rotating locations to host a series of Tenant Rights Trainings. These will cover a variety of topics relevant to tenants' rights & responsibilities; from applications to ending rental agreements, discrimination to safe housing, and repairs to security deposits.

And we are getting started right away! Our first Tenant Rights Training is partnered with Centro next week. Our topic for January is Applications & Housing Discrimination. Join us on January 22nd from 5 PM - 6:30 PM at Centro - 2403 Cypress Way, Madison WI. And stay tuned for additional events throughout 2026!
