Service Announcement - 2026 Outreach Thursdays & Tenant Rights Trainings

With the New Year, the Tenant Resource Center is undergoing a variety of changes - including an adjustment to our office hours. Starting next week on January 22nd, TRC will be closing at 4:00 PM instead of 6:00 PM on Thursdays. Monday-Wednesday hours will remain unchanged. Why this change?TRC is thrilled to announce our new 2026 initiative, Outreach Thursdays! Madison Commons: The Tenant Resource Center Fights Housing Instability and Provides Resources to Renter Households Facing Eviction Written by Kat Hans. Original Article Found Here. According to data collected by the Tenant Resource Center, a Madison organization that supplies eviction information, support and legal representation to households and individuals, 2,353 unique renter households faced eviction in Dane County last year. For all filings, landlords were represented by attorneys 55% of the time, while tenants were represented 29% of the time. Almost 75% of the Tenant Resource Center’s clients in 2024 spent more than half of their monthly income on rent, and people of color, female tenants and individuals with disabilities were disproportionately impacted by eviction. Overview: Eviction in Dane County in Q3 2025

Eviction filings picked up in Dane County during the past three months as the county’s major source for rental assistance finished winding down, according to the latest Tenant Resource Center data. Service Update: The End of (An) E.R.A.

This article comes from our Q3 2025 EDDP report, which you can view here. The third quarter of 2025 marked the end of federal Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) funding at Tenant Resource Center. Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dane County received substantial amounts of financial assistance targeted towards renters impacted by the pandemic and the financial hardships that ensued. These funds provided many renters a much-needed reprieve during a time of economic struggle. Continue reading
